Coronavirus Letter To Humanity

The earth whispered but you did not hear.
The earth spoke but you did not listen
The earth screamed but you turned her off.
And so, I was born…
I was not born to punish you …
I was born to awaken you …
The earth cried out for help…
Massive flooding. But you didn’t listen.
Burning fires. But you didn’t listen.
Strong hurricanes. But you didn’t listen.
Terrifying Tornadoes. But you didn’t listen.
You still don’t listen to the earth when.
Ocean animals are dying due to pollutants in the waters.
Glaciers melting at an alarming rate.
Severe drought.
You didn’t listen to how much negativity the earth is receiving.
Non-stop wars.
Non-stop greed.
You just kept going on with your life …
No matter how much hate there was …
No matter how many killings daily …
It was more important to get that latest iPhone than worry about what the earth was trying to tell you …
But now I am here.
And I’ve made the world stop on its tracks.
I’ve made YOU finally listen.
I’ve made you take refuge.
I’ve made you stop thinking about materialistic things …
Now you are like the earth…
You are only worried about YOUR survival.
How does that feel?
I give you fever … as the fires burn on earth.
I give you respiratory issues … as pollution fill the earth air.
I give you weakness as the earth weakens every day.
I took away your comforts …
Your outings.
The things you would use to forget about the planet and its pain.
And I made the world stop…
And now…
China has better air quality … Skies are clear blue because factories are not spewing pollution unto the earth’s air.
The water in Venice is clean and dolphins are being seen. Because the gondola boats that pollute the water are not being used.
YOU are having to take time to reflect on what is important in your life.
Again, I am not here to punish you … I am here to Awaken you…
When all this is over and I am gone… Please remember these moments …
Listen to the earth.
Listen to your soul.
Stop Polluting the earth.
Stop Fighting among each other.
Stop caring about materialistic things.
And start loving your neighbors.
Start caring about the earth and all its creatures.
Start believing in a Creator.
Because next time I may come back even stronger….

地球は叫んだけれど、あなたは聞くことを拒んだ。
それで、私は生まれた・・・
私はあなたを罰するために生まれたのではない・・・
私はあなたの目を覚ますために生まれた・・・
地球は助けを求めて叫んだ・・・
大規模な洪水。でもあなたは聞かなかった。
厳酷な火災。でもあなたは聞かなかった。
猛烈なハリケーン。でもあなたは聞かなかった。
恐ろしい竜巻。でもあなたは聞かなかった。
海の生き物が、水中の汚染物質によって死んでいっている。
異常な速さで溶けていっている氷河。
厳しい干ばつ。
それでもまだ、あなたは地球の声を聞こうとしない。
どれだけ地球がひどい扱いを受けているのか、あなたは聞こうとしなかった。
次々と続く戦争。
次々と続く貪欲。
あなたはただ自分の生活を続けるだけだった・・・
どれだけ憎しみがあろうが・・・
毎日どれだけ殺害があろうが・・・
地球があなたに伝えようとしていることを心配するより、最新のiPhoneを手に入れることのほうがもっと大事だった。
だけど今ここに、私がいる。
そして、私は世界を一気にストップさせた。
やっと私はあなたに耳を傾けさせた。
私はあなたに庇護を求めさせた。
私はあなたが物質本位に考えるのをやめさせた・・・
今、あなたは地球のようになっている・・・
あなたはただ自分が生き残れるか心配しているだけだ。
どう感じますか？
私はあなたに熱を与える。地球で起きる火災のように・・・
私はあなたに呼吸器障害を与える。地球の大気汚染のように・・・
私はあなたに衰弱を与える、地球が日に日に衰弱していっているように。
私はあなたの安楽を奪った・・・
あなたの外出。
あなたが使う、地球のことや、地球が感じている痛みのことを忘れさせるような物。
そして私は世界をストップさせた・・・
そして今・・・
中国の大気質が改善した・・・工場が地球の大気に汚染を吐き出さなくなったことにより、空が澄んだ青色だ。
ベニスの水が澄んでイルカが見られる。水を汚染するゴンドラを使っていないからだ。
あなたは時間をとって自分の人生で何か大切なのか深く考えなければならなくなっている。
もう一度言う。私はあなたを罰しているのではない・・・私はあなたの目を覚まさせるために来たのだ・・・
これが全て終わり私がいなくなったら・・・どうかこれらの時を忘れないように・・・
地球の声を聞きなさい。
あなたの魂の声を聞きなさい。
地球を汚染するのをやめなさい。
鬩ぎ合いをやめなさい。
物質的なものに関心を持つのをやめなさい。
そして、あなたの隣人を愛し始めなさい。
地球と、その全ての生き物を大切にし始めなさい。
創造神を信じ始めなさい。
なぜなら、次の時には、私はもっと強力になって帰ってくるかもしれないから・・・

And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.

And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.

And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.

私なりに訳しました。

アメリカ、ウィスコンシン州マディソンの、元教員・チャプレン(聖職者)によるポエム

そして人々は家にとどまった。そして本を読み、耳を傾け、体を休め、運動し、アートを作り、ゲームをし、新しい在り方を学び、活動しないで静かに過ごした。そして更に深く耳を傾けた。瞑想した人、祈った人、踊った人もいた。自分自身の心の影と向き合った人もいた。そして人々は異った考え方を持ち始めた。

そして人々は元気を取り戻した。そして無知で、危険で、思慮のない、無情な生き方をする人々がいなくなると、地球の健康が回復し始めた。

そして危険が去ると、人々は再び一丸となり、喪失を深く悲しみ、新しい選択をし、新たな夢を描き、新たな生き方と、人々の元気が回復したように、地球の健康を完全に回復させる新たな方法を考案した。

HOW TO BUILD CLOBAL COMMUNITY

Think of no one as “them”. Don’t confuse your comfort with your safety. Talk to strangers. Listen to music you don’t understand. Dance to it. Learn a second (or third) language. Refuse to wear corporate logos: defy corporate domination. Visit people, places, and cultures, not tourist attractions. Know your heritage. Don’t confuse money with wealth or time with money. Honor indigenous cultures. Notice the workings of power & privilege in your culture. Question consumption. Know where your lettuce & coffee are grown: wake up & smell the exploitation. Look for fair trade & union labels. Help build economies from the bottom up. Acquire few needs. Learn people’s history. Re-define progress. Know physical & political geography. Play games from other cultures. Watch films with subtitles. Honor everyone’s holidays. Read the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Understand the global economy in terms of people, land & water. Know where your bank banks. Never believe you have a right to anyone else’s resources. Question military/corporate connections. Have a pen/email pal. Be skeptical about what you read. Eat adventurously. Enjoy vegetables, beans & grains in your diet. Chose curiosity over certainty. Know where your water comes from & where your wastes go. Pledge allegiance to the earth: question nationalism. Think South, Central and North ? there are many Americans. Assume that many others share your dreams. Know that no one is silent though many are not heard. Work to change this.

コークア・フォー・ジャパン(Kōkua for Japan)は、東日本大震災の被害者を支援するためのチャリティー・イベントで、2011年4月10日(日)の午後12時から午後5時にワイキキのヒルトン・ハワイアン・ビレッジ・リゾート＆スパ内のグレート・ローンで開催され、同時にハワイのラジオやテレビ、インターネットでもライブ放送されます。
このイベントの収益はアメリカ赤十字社ハワイ支部(Hawai’i State Chapter of the American Red Cross)へ寄付されます。チケット($15)はすでに売り切れていますが、ウェブ・サイトを通して寄付金を送ることができます。

アロハ・フォー・ジャパン（ALOHA FOR JAPAN）は、ハワイ州知事二ール・アバクロンビーの命令を受けたブライアン・シャッツ副知事の指揮の元に、ハワイ州がハワイの主要銀行やハワイの企業や団体などと共に、東日本大震災救済のために立ち上げたチャリティー活動です。在ホノルル日本国総領事館の後援を受けて取り組まれています。
この活動のためにローカル・デザイナーがデザインしたＴシャツの販売による収益は義援金として寄付され。 またアロハ・フォー・ジャパンのウェブサイトを通して、アメリカ赤十字ハワイ支部（Hawai`i State Chapter of the American Red Cross）やハワイ日米協会（Japan-American Society of Hawai`i）へ義援金を寄付することも可能です。
自衛隊の方々、消防士の方々、警察の方々、医師の方々、看護婦の方々、作業員の方々、ボランティアの方々、外国から救援に来てくださっている方々など、被災地で懸命に救援活動を行っていらっしゃる皆様、本当にご苦労様です。被災地の状況が一刻も早く改善され、復興の道が開けますように心から祈っています。

地震、津波、原発事故により被害にあわれた方々に、心よりお見舞い申し上げます。そして一日も早い復興を心よりお祈りいたします。メ・ケ・アロハ・プメハナ（温かいアロハの心を込めて）。

ハワイ島の落書き

ハワイ島のプウホヌア・オ・ホーナウナウ国立歴史公園の新しいサインです。「この敷地にある石やサンゴを使って個人的な絵など描かないでください。そのような個人的なアートワークは非文化的で破壊的な行動です。」といった意味です。
国立公園だけでなく、コハラ・コーストの１１号線（クィーン・カアフマヌ・ハイウェイ）などの道沿いの落書きに対する規制ができればいいのになと思います。

生きた草刈機

とてもエコな草刈機・・・庭に繋がれたヤギです。このような風景をところどころで見かけます。
ハワイの自然における野ヤギの食害は大きな問題となっていますが、人間の管理下でならヤギの存在はとてもありがたいですね。石がゴロゴロしたところでも、急な斜面でも問題なし。
